My job in life is simple:
To protect
Like an umbrella.
To be a collapsible shade suitable for
Any weather.
To provide a barrier
Covering you from danger.
Whenever you need me
I'll be near
To preserve love
From the elements and atmosphere.
To safeguard your heart
Against injury or harm.
To shelter you
No matter the storm.
Stand under me
And I vow to always protect you
And provide shade.

And you won't be showered
With fear, worry or rain.
Clouds of doubt fill the sky
Because you can't predict the weather
But I'll shield you from it all If you let me be your umbrella.

Like a wildfire that destroys
Anything in its path.
Let love pollute the air
Like car exhaust during rush hour.
Let it flood your mind,
Your spirit,
Your soul,
Like a tsunami that covers a city.
Let love obliterate hatred
Like a tornado in Kansas.
Let love rattle fear,
Like a powerful earthquake
That is felt by all.
See,
Love is more contagious than any virus.
It's more powerful than
Any body of government.
Love has the ability
To be more disruptive
Than any disease
Or natural disaster.
It can erupt like a volcano
Emitting change
Into the atmosphere.
Love sheds light in times of darkness.

I can't change the world.
So never tell me
I am different.
I need to accept that
No matter the dream
I will not succeed.
I refuse to believe that
I am capable of great things.
I am only average.
Stop telling me
I can be extraordinary.
The truth is
I am insignificant.
I've been told
That I'm not good enough.
I'm not smart enough to make a difference.
No one will convince me that
I am remarkable.
I've come to realize
